We are currently looking for a difference maker to the following role:

Partner, East Africa

Primary focus: Opening up and leading the Rwanda market for HKH’s service offering across all practice areas

Region: Rwanda

Location: Remote

HKH Management Consulting is a privately owned “cloud-based” boutique management consultancy practice that helps small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) globally across business critical needs. We also have a deeply embedded roots with strategic and operational advisory on DTC business designs.

As part of our consultancy practice growth efforts we are currently looking for a highly talented Executive/Director level professional with significant experience from sales of professional services and significant local networks to join as a Partner to our global team of partner level management consultants, with a special focus on opening up, leading, and growing our market presence in the Rwanda and East Africa market. In addition to spearheading our growth efforts in the market, the desired candidate will be involved in client engagements, as part of a team, across our four practice areas and driving forward further Partner recruitments to strengthen our local/regional team. In time, you will have a dedicated role as leader, with full P&L responsibility, of one of the four practice areas.

The work is highly business development and sales focused, strategic, often sponsored at C-level/ownership-level, and very varied. We seek a candidate with the ability to startup and grow a region in a highly autonomous fashion. Acting as the entrepreneur of our practice in the region, you first sell our services to SMEs in the region and then, together with a wider management consultancy team, advise them with the ambition to grow regionally/globally by helping to meet their strategic priorities.

Our ideal candidate has the following experience:

  • 15+ years of operational or practical experience from at least three of the following four domains:
    • Marketing, Communications, and Sales;
    • Business Model Development and Innovation;
    • Strategic Planning and Business Transformation;
    • Corporate & Business Financial Planning and M&A;
  • At least 10+ years of experience working with strategic issues related to at least three of the above four domains;
  • 10+ years of experience from professional services sales;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and skills; the drive to build and grow a dynamic and vibrant business/practice area in the region;
  • Rigorous, practical, analytical and fact-based approach to problem solving/solution implementation;
  • Excellent applied and tested analytical/statistical acumen;
  • Proven success “opening doors”, leading engagements and driving revenue/profit goals;
  • An extensive network and well connected across decision-makers within SME-sized businesses in the region;
  • Executive poise and presence;
  • Strong listening and needs assessment skills;
  • Highly collaborative; proven skills managing and working in cross-functional & cultural project teams across the project life-cycle (from sales negotiations to client facing service delivery);
  • Expertise with P&L management and financial principles;
  • Prior management consulting experience strongly preferred;
  • Expertise with strategy consulting frameworks strongly preferred;
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree strongly preferred;
  • Someone who is currently potentially working independently but would like to join a bigger group to be able to deliver more comprehensive project deliveries for clients;
  • Fluent in English and native level in at least one of the following three; Swahili, French, or Kinyarwanda.

How we envision your first weeks and months to unfold:

You will hit the ground running very fast. After a relatively short onboarding to our practice, values, resources, processes, and getting to know your global colleagues, you will start to develop the sales pipeline for your specific Region by means of utilizing your vast list of existing decision-maker contacts combined with effectively introducing our practice to potential clients via relevant conferences, events, discussion forums, social media etc. Sky is really the limit in terms of how we see you can make an impact in opening new client relationships for us. Apart from vigorous sales, you will start to develop our local presence across the four practice areas together with our Global Managing Partner, identify the needs we have across these practice areas, and define relevant KPIs how to grow them. Once all pieces of the local/regional puzzle are in place, you will be handed over a specific responsibility for one of our practice areas and its result. Parallel to these responsibilities, you will be integrated as a subject-matter expert to our ongoing client cases and deliverables depending on your specific know-how and competence.
