Growth options for a 50MM € packaged goods manufacturer

A 50MM € in turnover packaged goods manufacturer in Europe was looking for various alternatives for growth. M&A was identified as the most prominent approach in reaching targets in the required time-period. The company engaged us to advise them on M&A strategy as part of their growth strategy. Our task was to define appropriate M&A strategy, identifying target companies that could be potential for acquisitions, building business cases and financial models, conducting due diligence (both financial and commercial), support the client in deal structuring, and set up post-merger integration strategy and associated plans.

Over a period of first nine months, our team of four partners deployed the 6-phase approach to M&A allowing the client to zoom in to the best alternative with a high strategic fit for the current strategy. After a successfully completed transaction, over a period of three months, our work was focused on detailed post-merger integration planning and support for the client and the newly made acquisition.

Case outcomes

As a result of the assignment the client was able to reap benefits in excess of 1.8MM € cost saving synergies combined with 50%+ growth in topline revenue and improved market share. After a year from completing the transaction, the post-merger integration process had moved forward according to plans and internal survey results indicate positive cultural adaptation on both sides of the deal.
