DTC is NOT Digital Marketing

Nothing gets our hackles up more than the misconceptions of DTC businesses we see portrayed in today’s business media and associated opinion pieces.

We recently came across an opinion piece in Click Z Daily titled ‘Differentiate or die: Three pivots DTC brands must take to survive’ citing the dangers to DTC business models in the wake of Apple’s data sharing preference changes on Facebook and the resulting negative hits those businesses have seen to their ROI on market spend due to the degradation of KPI’s on that platform. It argued further that strategic moves towards content marketing and the larger integration of social media influencers into marketing efforts would be a preferable and more profitable route for DTC companies to take to mitigate the deterioration of Facebook as an advertising platform.
